NMN and NR in One Sentence Each
- NR (nicotinamide riboside): a form of vitamin B3 used in many NAD+ trials.
- NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide): another building block on the path to NAD+.
Both are studied because plain NAD+ is harder to use as a simple oral "boost" in people.
What Studies Agree On
- Short-term safety: In the doses and time windows studied (often weeks to a few months), NR and NMN were usually well tolerated.
- Blood markers: Many trials show NAD+-related levels in blood go up. That means the compound is doing something measurable.
- Health results: Effects on blood pressure, blood sugar, inflammation, strength, or disease symptoms are mixed. Some small studies look promising. Many outcomes show little or no clear benefit.
A 2023 research review said the same thing in fancier words: markers go up, big health wins are not proven yet.
